Research Study on Awareness of Mouth Cancer
Harunani & Co Group of Dental Surgeries is working in collaboration with Kings College London to conduct a research study on patients awareness of mouth cancer.
Researchers from the Kings College London Dental Institute (Dr Suzanne Scott and Miss Tunmise Awojobi) are leading the research, which is taking place in dental practices throughout Southwark and Lewisham. The purpose of this study is to find out what current patients know about mouth cancer and what extra information they might need.
Adult patients attending the practice during the survey period will be asked to fill out a short questionnaire. It is entirely voluntary and patients can choose not to participate without affecting the standard of care they receive. Findings from this research study will allow the researchers at Kings College London to develop ways to improve dental patients awareness of mouth cancer. These interventions will be designed for those people who are at higher risk of developing the disease and will encourage increased awareness of the symptoms of mouth cancer and the benefits of early diagnosis.
